01What is an NFC business card?
NFC (Near Field Communication) is the short-range wireless technology also used for contactless payments. An NFC business card carries a small NFC chip that stores the address of your digital business card. When the card comes within a few centimetres of a phone, the phone reads the address and opens your card page in the browser.
The chip stores only the address, not your details. That is why you can change your information at any time without touching the card.
02How does it work?
Sharing takes a second and the other person needs no app:
- The other person unlocks their phone.
- You hold your card near the top back of an iPhone or the middle back of most Android phones.
- A notification or your card page appears, and one tap opens it in the browser.
- From there they can call you, message you on WhatsApp or save you to their contacts.
The card has no battery and never needs charging: the phone powers the chip while reading it.
03Which phones read NFC business cards?
Most current Android phones and iPhone XS, XR and later models read NFC cards without an app. On Android, NFC has to be switched on in the settings; on many phones it is on by default.
For phones without NFC, or with NFC switched off, every OSSDOY NFC card also carries a QR code. The camera reads it and opens the same page, so nobody is left out.
04NFC business card vs paper business card
A paper card is read by eye and typed in by hand. An NFC card is read by the phone and saved with one tap. You order the NFC card once and keep using it: when your number or title changes, you update your card page, not the card.
05Card design
OSSDOY NFC cards are designed for you with your logo and colours. For companies, the same design can be used on every employee's card. Cards are ready to ship within 1-3 business days.
06Is an NFC business card safe?
The chip holds only the address of your card page, the same address you would share as a link. It does not store passwords or payment data and cannot read anything from the phone it touches. If you need to, you can take your card offline from the panel at any time.
